Today I watched the Seth Godin video and thought I would offer my musings on creativity. Sometimes I think I have had some creativity beaten out of me from attending parochial schools. But like Mr. Godin says, try to resist! I think I am naturally curious, though, and good thing because it helps with cataloging. Sometimes I have to investigate the book or material I am cataloging so that I can give it a proper call number and/or subject headings. Yesterday I had to check on Ipage to see what publisher printed the reprint I was doing original cataloging on. And working in technical services, we have to be aware of new formats, new rules, new and easier ways of doing things.
As far as my hobbies, I am always curious to see what new rubber stamping or quilting technique is hot! I like to take stamping and quilting classes since I think learning hands-on is the best. Today I saw a book on watercolor painting and would love to learn how to do that! I do sort of dabble with watercoloring with some of my stamping stuff.
Thanks to Beth and the rest of the ProjectPlay staff for this opportunity! It has been fun and enlightening. I have done things that I never would have otherwise. Some things I might never use again and others I will but I do believe if you stop learning, you stop living.

Mash-ups: Project Play exercise
Today I did a mash-up of adding HuHot Grill to the MapBuilder site. It didn't seem real intuitive to me; I had trouble at first then went back to re-read the instructions. Fun but frustrating!

YouTube
Here's a good video: it's for everyone who works in an office and is frustrated with computers, phones and co-workers! I have to say thanks to Holly for helping me make hotlinks, my brain can't quite wrap itself around how to do that otherwise!
There are some cool library YouTube videos like Allen County Public Library’s homage to the “I’m a Mac; I’m a PC” commercials) and they also have one with the Lily mouse character.

Screencasting, week 8 of ProjectPlay
Hmmm, I am not too sure how I did with screencasting but here goes! Here is the link to my stellar (hah, hah) attempt at it! http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cjeZlVVo3

Project play week 3
I did part of this assignment a long time ago but can't find my original comment, sheesh, so I added one today, added a note to it and changed the priority. As to how helpful these tools would be, I'd have to say not very, for me at least. I like having a to-do list on my iGoogle reader. It's so nice not to have to log on to yet another website.
Update to Social networking, PP week 5
I just got a MySpace page yesterday, mostly so I could see my daughter's pictures! It's been sorta fun, I am up to 3 friends and one of them everyone gets! Let's see if I can figure out how to link to it... www.myspace.com/kath54now
Podcasting i.e. Project Play week 6
Trying to catch up with my assignments: I subscribed to NPR's Between the lines on my IGoogle reader and to Uncontrolled vocabulary on my BlogLines reader. Have to admit that I almost forgot I had BlogLines! Have to look at that sometimes now. The IGoogle thing I use a lot. Between the lines has discussions with authors that seem really interesting. The most recent is James McBride, author of Song yet sung.
